CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS, JULY 2014

The Middle Eastern Film Club [now: The Middle East Film Initiative] in partnership with the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) is soliciting screenplays, TV and web series pilots for a possible reading this summer in New York City.

The submissions should meet at least one of the following criteria:

• The writer is of Middle Eastern descent.

• The topic pertains to Middle Eastern history, cultures, or current affairs.

Before you submit, be sure to register your script with the Writers Guild of America East. The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2014. Please note: writers may be asked to select scenes or abridge their screenplays to fit the frame of the event. Please submit your qualifying screenplay along with a synopsis, bio and a cover note to contact@ruthkirstein.com. All documents should be in PDF format. Reception will be confirmed.

The Middle Eastern Film Club was launched by Ruth Priscilla Kirstein in 2013. It provides interdisciplinary training, as well as a continuous forum to connect the mainstream with the independent film market, with the purpose of building audiences and creating opportunities for local entertainment and media professionals.
